I love seeing babies and little ones all snugged up and cozy—nine times out of ten, they are so warm and comfortable that they just go right.to.sleep. (And all you moms—and photogs—out there know that there’s nothing better than a sleeping baby!) That was totally the case with Baby R’s newborn session last week. The little guy was so content in the beautifully knit creations that I had brought with me—and it was apparent in how quickly he dozed off.
I had been perusing several websites for a while to find a few special hats and things to use for newborn shoots. I’d seen some gorgeous cocoons and baby pods (for lack of a better term), and asked a friend who knits if she’d make one for me. And the wheels started spinning…
Kel is a fantastic knitter. She makes gorgeous, soft, snuggly, warm, beautiful things. She gifted one of her special hats to us for our little man’s arrival (that I still have), and that he loved wearing during the winter months. So during my quest to find the perfect baby cocoon, I asked Kel if she’d consider making one for me with a hat to match. And a couple of weeks later, a box arrived with not one, but several hats and the most luxurious, beautiful baby cocoon I could have ever DREAMED of…

Simply perfect. The yarn she had used has just the slightest bit of sheen to it, adding another layer of depth and dimension to the cocoon.

Here’s a couple more of her awesome hats…if you’ve got a vision, chances are she can find a yarn to match…

Photogs, if you’re looking for some wonderful hand-knit props to use in your sessions, please contact me at info {at} cathymoresphotography {dot} com :: and I would be thrilled to share Kel’s contact information. She’s fantastic to work with, and her attention to detail is second to none. Plus it’s hand-washable!
I’m so excited to be able to share her amazing work with you! One more parting shot…
