We’re on snow day #2 (and quite frankly wouldn’t be entirely surprised by a third…) We nearly walked out the door yesterday morning to head to Preschool, only to realize that nobody would have been there if we had shown up. :) There’s a little ice on everything now, and the snow is falling fast and furious. While we are grateful that we aren’t on the receiving end of the amounts that so many other places are getting, I think it goes without saying that winter can be finished any time now. :)

I bet the birds would agree.

Like so much of the rest of the country, we got walloped with several inches of snow on Monday and Tuesday — which meant for a great snow day for Little Man. When I asked him about what he’d like to do with his day off, he replied, “First, brush our teeth, then put on warm clothes, play outside, then hot chocolate, and (shrugging his shoulders) maybe a movie.” :) Okay, moms, how do you say no to all that :: especially when he first mentioned brushing his teeth?! That’s my Mr. Responsibility…

We delighted in catching the fresh flakes on our faces ::

How did you stay warm and toasty while it snowed in your neighborhood this week?

I’m taking a little pause this week to spend time with family and friends while soaking up the last bits of 2010…so posts will be light until next week. Enjoy the break! :)

We had a little time over the past weekend to visit a favorite place each fall, where we could enjoy the weather, the sounds and activity of the farm, and time to be together. Little Man ate up every moment, jumping from one haybale to another, petting all the animals, running through the corn maze, and swinging on the zip line.

The praying mantis that Little Man found, took to preschool, and then decided to let go (so he could be with his family)

Around here, we have a fine affinity for Colorado, Denver in particular. After having lived there for a short while (too short, perhaps), we came to appreciate so many things we hadn’t taken the time to notice before. And now we’re fortunate to have four good reasons to go back :: the hubs’ brother, wife and two daughters found themselves relocating to our stomping grounds – and we decided to take a visit over the Labor Day weekend to revisit some of our favorite places, explore new ones, and spend time together.

While we had flown through DIA on several occasions, it was our first real opportunity to put our feet back on the rocky soil and breathe the sweet, dry air. Little Man loved seeing the mountains, as he was too young to remember living so near them; and we had fun telling him stories of the time we spent at football games in Boulder, visiting flea markets around the city, and his favorite park where we’d feed the ducks and geese.

Saturday found us in Colorado Springs with a few things to do, and we took a little time to grab lunch and visit the Garden of the Gods. Most of us had visited before, and the kiddos thought it was great fun and reveled at the formations, the technical climbers, and the abundant warm sunshine.

We really enjoyed our time being back. Hopefully, it won’t be so long the next time before we visit again….
