She swore to one of her friends that she was going to marry him before she even knew his name. And while he knew her whole family through his work, Beth and Scott hadn’t really had the opportunity to meet. Until.
Until one day she wandered into his office looking for a quarter for the car wash, and it was the twenty-five cents that changed both their lives forever. She loves the outdoors and his singing. He loves sports and her smile.
We went to the Konza Prairie near Manhattan on one of the warmest, windiest days of the fall and created some portraits that celebrate who they are and the comfort and joy they share with one another. Their late summer wedding is going to be a blast next year!
Ever since they met, he knew she was the one. Back in high school, he pledged her love to her and said they’d marry one day… and this summer, their one day became forever. Surrounded with the love of their amazing friends and closest family, they were excited to celebrate this day and the promise of an amazing future together. Cheers and encouragement bubbled throughout the room while a women’s soccer World Cup game filled the tv, as the girls prepared at the Overland Park Marriott.
I loved this moment from their first look…
I loved Alison’s nontraditional choice of a wedding ring — the dark blue sapphire was gorgeous.
Their reception was held at Shadow Glen Golf Club :: so charming and had lots of beautiful spaces for portraits.
Huge thanks to Kami from OrangePeel Photography; I loved having her as a second photographer for the day!
Alison and John, I’m grateful to you for having us document your wedding day. I wish you all the very best of everything ahead! Cheers!
This was a day Wendy had looked forward to for a long, long time :: the day she’d finally begin married life together with her soul mate. She was radiant, bursting with such excitement to finally say I do, while Austin, even in all his calm demeanor, was focused on one thing — making sure their day was filled with joy. And on the hottest day of the year (well, I think every day between April and October in Hays must be hot…) they warmed the hearts of everyone around them as vows were exchanged and happy tears were shed.
Laughter filled the spaces of every room throughout the day — lighthearted jokes from their friends, well wishes of family, and the cheerful conversations about what the future holds for them. I was pleased to have Rik of Rik Andes Photography photographing alongside me, although he didn’t seem to melt in the heat as much as I did.
After the ceremony, a few portraits on the Fort Hays State University campus ::
Wendy and Austin, it was a delight to meet your wonderful families and get to know the friends and people who have helped shape the people you are, and shared in your experiences individually and as a couple. Best wishes for a life filled with days as joyful as your wedding day! Cheers!
Hope your Thanksgiving week is off to a GREAT start!
Get ready for some awesome sessions this week–we’re going to pack a ton into the next few days because there’s. just. so. much. good. stuff!!
I’m excited to share these images from Latoyia and Ryan’s wedding in Fort Scott, Kansas :: a beautiful day, surrounded by laughter and love from their friends and family. Married among the comforts of rich fall colors and a sparkling blue sky, not a detail was overlooked in planning their celebration.
Not to mention her gorgeous dress and beautiful shoes! They were filled with intricate detail down to the last stitch.
These little flower girls were soooo cute. And were thrilled to twirl for me. (I would be too, if I was able to wear a princess dress like that.)
A few last preparations before seeing her groom for their first look…
Workin’ it. Love it. Kinda partial to all that awesome orange in her bouquet.
Their lovely outdoor ceremony site was surrounded by a low limestone wall, giant trees and golden rays of sunshine — gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.
Married! Latoyia, you are stunning — and Ryan, you’re quite dapper yourself.
Their cake was gorgeous! Love those sweet little sunflower details.
A moment outside under the Liberty Theatre marquee and their first dance.

Justyn and Kari pledged their love among the closest of their friends and family last month, on a beautiful, warm, summer evening. It was the perfect day for two happy souls to intertwine, and surrounded by those that they treasure the most, it was sure to be a delightful celebration.
Everything they touched was surrounded in joy and love, with such thought and attention paid to the smallest of details ::
