I have a few portrait reservations for the spring available beginning in early March, so if you’re a new mom-to-be or ready to start thinking about family portraits, make sure you get in touch soon!

She swore to one of her friends that she was going to marry him before she even knew his name. And while he knew her whole family through his work, Beth and Scott hadn’t really had the opportunity to meet. Until.

Until one day she wandered into his office looking for a quarter for the car wash, and it was the twenty-five cents that changed both their lives forever. She loves the outdoors and his singing. He loves sports and her smile.

We went to the Konza Prairie near Manhattan on one of the warmest, windiest days of the fall and created some portraits that celebrate who they are and the comfort and joy they share with one another. Their late summer wedding is going to be a blast next year!

Lauren and Travis love all things Hawaii… and it seemed only natural that when planning their wedding at the KSU Alumni Center, there were touches of the tropics everywhere. And down to the last detail, the ballroom was filled with beautiful accents of  vibrant color and the laid-back, joyful attitude to enjoy the moment and even had a surprise performance by the KSU Marching Band on the terrace of the Alumni Center.

It was a beautiful day–congratulations again, Lauren and Travis!

Jamie and Brian are crazyawesome. I knew this from the first time we met and spent three (!) hours at Starbucks laughing like we’d been friends for years. They took a huge leap of faith several months ago and moved from the pulse of the east coast to begin a marriage, a family, a life in the midwest. He knew what to expect :: she, not so much, saying she still finds herself awed by the wide open prairie skies, the friendliness of people, and the occasional wafts of cow poop.

She’s a millionmilesanhour (I love and secretly wish I had her energy!); he, with his almost aloof demeanor, balances the two. They love VW’s. Their adorable pup Pekoe. She’ll tell you she can’t cook. He’ll tell you he’ll do it for her.

Meet Jamie & Brian.

K-State, and Manhattan, have always been a second home to Katie and Brian. So much so, in fact, that they were happy to move back to the area this summer to take advantage of an opportunity for Katie’s career. It was like coming home again, a comfortable, familiar community where they first met and began their relationship. It seemed only fitting to photograph their engagement in the places where it all began, and I can’t wait to document what’s sure to be a beautiful wedding in just a couple of weeks!

Katie wore the same dress she donned on their first date as we made our way around Aggieville on the warm fall day.

Katie — you are gor.ge.ous! You’re going to be a beautiful, beautiful bride. :)

A quick change and we headed to the Kansas State University campus…

I haven’t featured any products lately, and I’m absolutely in love with this one :: a wedding guestbook, created from your unique engagement portraits. Kelsey and Brendon’s just came back from the lab, and I’m thrilled with how it looks! Imagine, a lovely book to have of your engagement portraits, and the love of your family and friends who are present to celebrate the beginning of your life together and their words and well wishes, all among the same pages. It’s like M&M’s and popcorn–separately, two things that make you happy, but together, have a whole other dimension to them. :)

Just like all of the products I offer, this album was custom-designed with the couple’s favorite images from the session. What I love are the big blocks of space throughout the portraits for guests to write advice, stories, or just a simple congratulations.

The pages are lightweight, and on a smoother paper than the other books or albums you’ve likely seen from us, to make it easy for writing without smears. I love the hinged paper so that the pages lay nice and flat–a total bonus.

If you’re interested in creating a custom book like this with your portraits, use the contact form at the top of the blog or email me at info {at} cathymoresphotography {dot} com for pricing and other information. Isn’t something like this better than pictures on a disk? :)

It was almost a year for their paths to cross again after the first time they met, and when the second chance arrived at a mutual friend’s barbecue, she knew this opportunity was for real. And ever since, they’ve opened up space in their lives and hearts to accommodate what’s important to them. Each other. They’ve even gone so far as to move across several states and then back to the Midwest to allow Brendon to pursue his dream as an athletic trainer. And next summer, they’ll promise their lives to one another as they begin down life’s most incredible journey together.

We met up at Loose Park in Kansas City to photograph a few portraits for their engagement, and in the meantime, kept their dear friends waiting at their home, wishing to celebrate their arrival back in Kansas City. (To their friends who were so patient with us….thank you!) It was a glimmering, warm, nearly-summer day, and the air was effluent with the bright sounds of families playing and enjoying the weather.

So the only word I have to describe these two: adorable. Well, two. Freaking adorable. Kelsey and Brendon are sweet and warm, and their affection for one another makes your heart melt a little. :)

I love the way Brendon looks at Kelsey…such affection and intensity.

The rose garden was bursting with color, and the sweet aroma lingered all around us.

Love.

Kelsey and Brendon, it was a delight to photograph these portraits for you, and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next summer! :) Cheers!
