I’m guest blogging over at A Good Run and talking about Dando Amor (and my birthday week!). Join us there this week and I hope you’re inspired to pay it forward.
Oh, the love I have for this little man runs deep and he’s barely a couple of weeks old. And a super easy, laid back baby…he posed so effortlessly and was calm as could be through the whole session (although a full belly and warm blankets didn’t hurt either?).
Meet Will, nine days old ::
I’m loving these sibling portraits ::
Ever since they met, he knew she was the one. Back in high school, he pledged her love to her and said they’d marry one day… and this summer, their one day became forever. Surrounded with the love of their amazing friends and closest family, they were excited to celebrate this day and the promise of an amazing future together. Cheers and encouragement bubbled throughout the room while a women’s soccer World Cup game filled the tv, as the girls prepared at the Overland Park Marriott.
I loved this moment from their first look…
I loved Alison’s nontraditional choice of a wedding ring — the dark blue sapphire was gorgeous.
Their reception was held at Shadow Glen Golf Club :: so charming and had lots of beautiful spaces for portraits.
Huge thanks to Kami from OrangePeel Photography; I loved having her as a second photographer for the day!
Alison and John, I’m grateful to you for having us document your wedding day. I wish you all the very best of everything ahead! Cheers!
It was almost a year for their paths to cross again after the first time they met, and when the second chance arrived at a mutual friend’s barbecue, she knew this opportunity was for real. And ever since, they’ve opened up space in their lives and hearts to accommodate what’s important to them. Each other. They’ve even gone so far as to move across several states and then back to the Midwest to allow Brendon to pursue his dream as an athletic trainer. And next summer, they’ll promise their lives to one another as they begin down life’s most incredible journey together.
We met up at Loose Park in Kansas City to photograph a few portraits for their engagement, and in the meantime, kept their dear friends waiting at their home, wishing to celebrate their arrival back in Kansas City. (To their friends who were so patient with us….thank you!) It was a glimmering, warm, nearly-summer day, and the air was effluent with the bright sounds of families playing and enjoying the weather.
So the only word I have to describe these two: adorable. Well, two. Freaking adorable. Kelsey and Brendon are sweet and warm, and their affection for one another makes your heart melt a little.
I love the way Brendon looks at Kelsey…such affection and intensity.
The rose garden was bursting with color, and the sweet aroma lingered all around us.
Kelsey and Brendon, it was a delight to photograph these portraits for you, and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next summer!
Cheers!
When you begin planning for the biggest day of your life to date, you have a vision for how things will go :: how the centerpieces will look, the way the bridesmaids’ bouquets will be arranged. Sometimes, that vision is tack-sharp, and other times it’s a little subject to the forces of nature. Such was the latter with Adam and Jenna’s May wedding—yet, the overcast and misty skies didn’t dampen the spirit of those who celebrated with the happy couple! It didn’t matter in the end. What was important to them was that they were both standing in front of the ones they love, face to face, to pledge their commitment to one another.
They were so proud and happy to be together, especially after planning most of the wedding during Adam’s tour on the other side of the globe — Adam completely trusted Jenna’s vision to create a beautiful day for them to celebrate. And her lighthearted, modern look for the wedding did not disappoint one bit!
Jenna’s radiant beauty was as effervescent as the bottle of bubbly they shared, as the girls prepared ::
A few of their awesome details:
A last-minute peek at the radar didn’t allow for the ceremony to be held outside as planned, but with their alternate option, it was no big deal! With a quick transformation, the space was turned into a lovely, intimate setting for their nuptials.
As the skies dried up after the ceremony, we went out to the golf course to photograph a few romantics. What better way to incorporate one of the biggest memories they’ll have about their day into their portraits?
Adam and Jenna’s bridal party was a total blast and we laughed like this almost the entire day, as though we’d all known each other for much longer than a few hours.
I love this sweet moment from their first dance ::
And of course, their entire day wouldn’t have been possible without Adam and Jenna’s amazing team of vendors!
